You might not want to take a rest day on your Walt Disney World trip. There’s so much to do and see and you might feel like you have to GO, GO, Go! But I can tell you from experience. I can tell you from experience that planning a rest day mid-vacation can save the rest of your trip! Here are some ideas for a rest day that is still full of fun and magic!

Book a Character Meal at a Disney Resort
There are currently 5 Walt Disney World Resorts that offer character dining.

Cape May Cafe at Disney’s Beach Club Resort offers a breakfast buffet with Minnie Mouse

Chef Mickey’s at Disney’s Contemporary Resort offers breakfast and dinner buffet with Mickey and all his friends

O’hana at Disney’s Polynesian Resort offers a best friend’s breakfast with Lilo & Stitch

Topolino’s Terrace at Disney’s Riviera Resort offers a sit down breakfast meal with Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy

Storybook Dining at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge offers dinner with Snow White, Dopey and Grumpy

These character dining options give your family the opportunity to enjoy a delicious Disney meal, while enjoying the magic of some of your favorite characters outside of the parks. Reservations are highly encouraged for all character dining and some characters may be changed out.

Swim at Your Hotel Pool
The pools at the Walt Disney World Resort are some of the best with theming and fun! The biggest one is located at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and also offers a splash pad for younger guests. Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort offers a sand bottom pool, lazy river, and a water slide! Be sure to look for the pools where you are staying. They are sure to have some fun options! Pool hopping is not allowed at the Walt Disney World Resort. You will need your Key or Magic Band to enter.

Resort Hopping
Although you can’t use the pool, you can still hop and visit resorts! The Walt Disney World Resorts are really a work of art and offer so much to see and do. With dining and shopping spaces, there is always something fun to do! For convenience, I love to visit the Monorail Resorts: Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Resort and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. Transportation is easy because you can take the monorail to all three. Be sure to visit Disney’s Contemporary Resort to see the famous mural painted by legendary Disney Artist, Mary Blair. Their 2 shops are some of my favorite ones with tons of Disney merchandise to see. The Animal Kingdom Lodge is also another favorite to visit. You can walk about the resort to see the beautiful buildings and art, but also the animals that live there!

Your Disney Parks days will be filled with 10K steps or more, waking up early, and staying up late to watch the incredible nighttime entertainment. Taking a rest day between parks can make your park days easier and more enjoyable for your whole family!
