As a huge vacation and Disney fan, I favored the Disney Cruise Line and swore I would NEVER try another! My loyalty to the Disney Cruise Line was tested when I had the opportunity to sail on the Allure of the Seas with the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. My verdict, I loved it! Let me tell you why!
First, the abundance of dining options! The RCCL offered so many dining opportunities on board with different types of cuisine! The buffet was available throughout breakfast and lunch and offered your usual eggs, bacon, and pastries, but also had a variety daily! I saw other guests enjoying bagels and lox, freshly carved ham, burgers, and more! One of my personal favorites was a dulce de leche sticky bun they had one morning. Sadly they didn’t have it again but offered different flavors of sweet buns each day. Around the ship, you can enjoy pizza, hot dogs, soft serve, tacos, nachos, and snacks. The main dining areas also provided a variety of meals each night that were delicious. While all of those options are included in the price, RCCL also offers specialty dining with restaurants for every fare! We tried Giovanni’s Table with authentic Italian cuisine. Other options included Chops Grille for steaks, Teppanyaki for hibachi, Izumi for sushi, and even Johnny Rockets for a fancier burger. If dining is a priority for your next cruise, the RCCL does not disappoint!
Second, the live entertainment was absolutely incredible on the Allure of the Seas. From acrobatic water shows to a comedy club to a performer using 50 hula hoops while ice skating, there was something for everyone to enjoy. We had the honor of watching Mama Mia! As a Broadway show fan, this show passed the test with quality performers, costumes,
choreography, and sets. My favorite entertainment was live music. There was nightly live music in various clubs with cover bands and even a jazz club. Being able to sit and relax to some live music with a drink in my hand is my definition of a vacation! A perk of all this entertainment, it is performed multiple times throughout your cruise so you have time to enjoy it! Look on your app for daily showtimes.
Last but not least, RCCL offers an extensive list of included activities aboard all ships. While exploring, I found a library with books and puzzles that offered a quiet spot to relax indoors. On the decks, they had multiple pools, hot tubs, a sporting area for basketball and tennis, table tennis, trivia, and more. All of these are things you can find on other cruise lines, but some were not your typical activity! I saw guests enjoying wall climbing and a zipline that went across the boardwalk section of the ship! Mini Golf seemed to be popular with families, and putt-putt is something I have never seen on a cruise ship. The activity I chose to do I might not have done anywhere else. The FlowRider gives guests the opportunity to boogie board or surf while on board! This surf simulator pushes 30,000 gallons of water toward you, and you have to stay balanced on your board. I chose the boogie board option because I was kinda nervous. But it was so thrilling, I would be ready to try it again! The cruise staff member in the FlowRider assisted me in getting in the water and how to position my body to stay up. I felt safe the whole time, and I loved that I had the opportunity to do something I might never have done anywhere else!
Overall I loved my voyage with RCCL! So much so that I already have another one booked for summer 2023! This time I’ll be sailing on the Voyager of the Seas, and I will definitely be back to tell you all about it! If you were hesitant to break away from your loyalty to another cruise line or nervous about going on a cruise, take the chance. You might find yourself pleasantly surprised!
